Mechanism of Vespa

The theory behind the gear change and clutch. Applicable for almost all vehicles on the road except for the auto transmission ones.

For the benefit of those who do not understand Japanese (not that i do anyway), the arrow that point up is to a higher gear ratio (ie. 1>2>3>4), the down arrow is to a lower gear ratio(ie. 4>3>2>1).
The round orange dot is to engage neutral gear.
